About Betalmint

Who We Are — and Why Harmony Guides Everything We Write

Betalmint is a home and living blog built on one conviction: that a well-considered space changes daily life in ways that are difficult to articulate but impossible to ignore.

A Blog That Began With a Badly Arranged Living Room

Betalmint started in Québec City in 2021 as an honest record of one editor's attempt to make a rented apartment feel like a home.

Betalmint was founded in Québec City in 2021 after our lead editor spent three months trying to make a 620-square-foot rental on Avenue Cartier feel like it belonged to her rather than to the landlord's furniture choices. The process of researching feng shui principles, testing organization systems, and slowly adjusting the light, colour, and layout of each room turned into something she wanted to document. Not because the apartment became beautiful — it became functional, calm, and genuinely restorative, which is a different and more useful thing. The blog launched with four articles and a clear editorial line: write only about what has been tested, explain the reasoning behind every recommendation, and never pretend that a home has to be expensive to be harmonious. By the end of 2022, Betalmint had published over sixty articles and established a readership across Québec, Ontario, and British Columbia. The audience is mostly homeowners and renters between 28 and 50 who want their living spaces to work harder — people managing real households, not curating an aesthetic for social media. Betalmint serves that reader: curious, practical, willing to make changes, and interested in understanding why something works rather than simply being told to buy it.

How We Work — and What We Will Not Promise

Every article goes through a test, a draft, an editor review, and a final check against the harmony principles that define the Betalmint editorial line.

The Betalmint editorial process begins with a real problem — a reader question, a common pain point observed across multiple messages, or something one of our editors encountered in their own home. We test proposed solutions before writing about them. That means physically rearranging furniture, trying storage products, living with a colour change for at least two weeks before recommending it. The articles that result are specific rather than general: they name the room type, the light condition, and the floor plan constraint they address. We are a micro team, which means our publishing pace is deliberate rather than relentless — readers can expect one to two new articles per week, not a daily flood of content. What we do not do is write about structural renovation, electrical work, plumbing, or any project that requires a licensed contractor. We also do not promise that our recommendations will suit every space — feng shui principles and organization frameworks are starting points, not universal prescriptions. Results depend on the specific geometry, light, and household habits of your home. We say this plainly because it is true, and because readers who understand those limits get more from the advice than readers who expect a guaranteed outcome. Our commitment is to give you sound reasoning, tested ideas, and enough detail to adapt the guidance intelligently to your own space.

“What sets Betalmint apart is that the editors admit when something is complicated or unlikely to work in a small apartment. That honesty made me trust the advice on the pieces where they were confident. My home office went from a stressful corner to the room I actually want to start my day in.”
